Lagos State Police Command has arrested three persons for being in possession of firearms after its officers stormed the slums in the Whitesand area of Orile-Iganmu in the state.

The command’s spokesperson, Ben Hundeyin, a superintendent of police who disclosed this in a post shared on his Twitter handle, said the arrest was carried out after actionable intelligence was gathered.

He, however, asserted that the tactical unit recovered from the suspects three locally fabricated firearms, thirteen live cartridges, and hard drugs.

It would be recalled that the state’s commissioner of police, Idowu Owohunwa and his operations officers visited trouble spots at Orile along Lagos-Badagry Expressway where there have been incessant cases of robberies and other vices.

The commissioner had also announced the launch of a tactical security unit code-named “Operation Flush” to curb the prevalent cases of traffic robbery in and around the Lagos metropolis.

It was gathered that the unit was formed due to agitations by residents of the state concerning complaints of the resurgence of traffic robberies, cultism, and other disturbances in the state.
