LEADERSHIP learnt that during the operation, the police also rescued about three kidnap victims who were taken hostage for ransom by the abductors.

The spokesperson of Bauchi State Police Command, SP Ahmed Wakil, disclosed this to journalists in Bauchi on Thursday.

“The detectives deployed from Gumau, Tilde, and Tulu Divisions encountered armed bandits during their routine patrol and engaged in a firefight in self-defence, resulting in the neutralisation of four (4) suspected kidnappers.

“Two of the suspects in their eleventh hour, who later died, confessed to multiple kidnapping incidents across Bauchi and Plateau States, including the heinous killing of a village head in Ruruwai village, Lame district, Toro LGA.

“In a subsequent firefight with the remaining accomplices guarding the hostages, four (4) kidnappers were also neutralised, and the three (3) captives were safely rescued without any ransom paid,” the Police spokesman said in a statement.

SP Wakil called on residents of Bauchi communities to cooperate with the Police by releasing credible intelligence information that would lead to proactive tackling of security breaches before they occur which normally comes with different kinds of devastation on lives and property.
