A mobile police officer, DSP Abdullahi Isah, who was allegedly involved in an illegal arms deal, has reportedly committed suicide.
LEADERSHIP Friday gathered that the said deceased was found wanting in an illegal arms deal with suspected bandits and was taken for arms audit.
It was further learnt that during the audit, his involvement was established and in the process, took a pistol from the armoury and shot himself.
Findings revealed that the policemen who led him for the audit tried to revive him, but the mobile police officer died on the spot.
Confirming the incident yesterday, the Niger State Police Command public relations officer Wasiu Abiodun told LEADERSHIP Friday that “On December 16, 2025 at about 2.30pm, one DSP Abdullahi Isah attached to 12 Police Mobile Force, Minna, who was initially arrested on 15th December for being suspected to be involved in illegal dealings in ammunition, was taken to his office for a routine arms audit.
“And unfortunately, while the audit process was ongoing, the said officer shot himself on the head, through a pistol he picked up within the office and died on the spot.
“Meanwhile, the policemen who were detailed along for the audit and investigation were arrested for negligence in the line of duty, for allowing such a situation to occur. Further investigation is in progress,” Abiodun said.
