The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has presented cheques amounting to N1.3bn to the families of deceased Police officers.

The inspector-general of police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun presented the cheques to the families of Police officers affected in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

He said this was part of the benefits of the Group Life Assurance of the Nigeria Police Force targeted at improving the welfare of the families of the officers and men of the Nigeria Police.

The IGP said about 420 families of dead personnel will benefit from the payment across the country.

Also speaking at the event, the officer in charge of police group life assurance, CSP Lydia Ameh said the funds was raised as a result of the support and dedication of the inspector-general of police and president Bola Tinubu.

Recall that in January this year, former IGP, Usman Baba, presented a cheque of N13bn to families of police officers killed and critically injured while on duty between 2012 and 2020.

A total of 6,128 families of deceased personnel and injured police officers were beneficiaries from the money.

In another development, the IGP has pledged to support the activities of the Defense and Police Wives Association (DEPOWA).

He stated this in Abuja when the DEPOWA executives visited him to congratulate him on his appointment and seek his support in all their activities.
