Police in Katsina State yesterday said they arrested 302 suspects for various offences and rescued over 50 kidnap victims in July.

Speaking at a press conference at the Command Headquarters, the spokesman, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, who represented the commissioner, Bello Shehu, praised the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for his continuous support which he said had significantly strengthened the state’s crime-fighting operations.

According to him, the arrested suspects include 14 over alleged armed robbery, 22 murder/culpable homicide suspects, more than 25 suspected rapists, 20 suspected vandals, eight suspected fraudsters, 26 illicit drug peddlers while 194 were apprehended for other offences.

He also said the command foiled several attacks by bandits across the state and seized several items within the period.

DSP Aliyu commended the state government and residents for their cooperation, noting that the successes would not have been possible without public support.
