The Kano State Police Command has rescued a two-year-old boy abducted in Gwammaja Quarters, Dala Local Government Area, and arrested three suspects linked to the crime.

The Command described the operation as “a major operational breakthrough following a sustained intelligence-led operation,” according to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.

The toddler, Aliyu Aliyu Muhammad, was reportedly kidnapped on April 19, 2026, in front of his family residence by unknown persons. According to police, the suspects later demanded ₦1 million ransom, which was paid but the child was not released.

Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, “immediately directed the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad to activate all operational and intelligence assets and swing into action.”

The statement said “through sustained follow-up, and technical operation, the hideout was identified and the suspects were arrested” within Gwammaja Quarters.

The suspects; Hassan Umar, 26; Abdullahi Hamisu, 19; and Hussaini Saminu, 24 were all arrested in connection with the crime.

Investigations revealed that the victim was held captive at the residence of Hussaini Saminu, where he was later rescued unharmed.

The police also recovered ₦930,000, described as “part of the ransom paid,” from the suspects.

Commending the operatives, Bakori said they demonstrated “professionalism, resilience, and tactical precision in rescuing the victim unhurt.”

The commissioner warned that “Kano State will continue to be unsafe for” criminal elements, reiterating the Command’s resolve to tackle kidnapping and violent crimes.

He further urged residents to “report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest Police Station,” assuring that the Command would remain relentless in its operations.
