Police Reveal Cause Of Death Of 3 Nigerian Sisters Who died In UK

Sussex Police have confirmed that three Nigerian sisters found dead on Brighton Beach in the United Kingdom on May 13, 2026, died by drowning.

The victims Jane Adetoro, 36, Christina Walters, 32, and Rebecca Walters, 31, were residents of Uxbridge, London. Following post-mortem examinations and an extensive investigation, police reported on Sunday, September 20, that there was no evidence of criminality or third-party involvement.

CCTV footage and witness statements established that a taxi dropped the sisters off near Madeira Drive on the evening of May 12, where they entered the water wearing everyday clothing. Their bodies were recovered from the sea and beach the following morning.

Police revealed that two days prior to their deaths, the sisters had visited a lake in Birmingham where their mother, Janice Adetoro, drowned in 2016.

With the criminal investigation now concluded, the formal inquest into the deaths is scheduled to resume in October at the Brighton and Hove Coroner’s Court to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
