Police Train 20 On Drone, Aerial Surveillance In Cross River

Cross River State police command has begun the training of 20 of its personnel on drones management, unmanned Ariel Vehicle to assist the command effectively combat crime in the state.
The initiative is aim at enhancing the state’s security apparatus by integrating cutting-edge technology into its surveillance efforts.

At the inauguration of the programme which kick-started at Police Officers Mess Calabar Tuesday in Calabar, the state commissioner of police, CP Augustine Grimah stated that the training will equip personnel with skills and knowledge to operate drones effectively for aerial surveillance purposes.

“Apart from that, the training will also harness capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), enhance situational awareness, improve response times, and bolster overall security within the state,”The CP maintained.

Grimah who emphasised on the importance of enhancing technology to combat crime effectively urged the trainees to take the exercise serious and ensure that knowledge gained at the training is put to use at the end of the exercise.

He stressed that the inauguration of the drones/UAV aerial surveillance operations training, marks a significant step forward for the State Police Command in modernizing its security infrastructure.

The ceremony is rounded off with facilitators conducting practical sessions on drone operation, flight control, data collection, and analysis techniques.
Participants were subsequently engaged in hands-on exercises to familiarize themselves with the UAVs and their functionalities.

The training also included discussions on privacy and legal considerations regarding drone usage in law enforcement activities.
