Almost everyone at the command shed tears when the widows began narrating their conditions and how the financial assistance could make a difference in their lives and that of their children.

At the event, the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmmed Abdullahi said, a total of 24 cheques would be presented to the families of the fallen officers.

He explained that the money was approved by the Inspector-General of Police under the Police Group Life Assurance Scheme designed to enhance the welfare of the officers including the deceased.

He told the beneficiaries that the assistance was just a token and not a compensation for the lost adding that it is to show a sense of belonging and an appreciation for the sacrifice made by their sons, fathers and husbands.

One of the widows, Mrs Habiba Adewale thanked the Inspector-General of Police for the assistance which she said would make a difference in their economic and social life, including the education of their children.
