The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has received sensitive materials for the bye-elections holding on Saturday, February 21, in Ahoada East Constituency II and Khana Constituency II in Rivers state.

INEC received the materials on Friday at the Port Harcourt branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Leaders of various political parties were also present to inspect the materials in line with the electoral transparency guidelines.

Speaking after the exercise, Ben Ogbobula, the Secretary of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Rivers State and Chairman of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), expressed satisfaction with the materials’ condition and confirmed that party representatives verified the items and found them intact.

Meanwhile, INEC has restated it’s readiness and preparedness to conduct a free, fair, and credible by-election in the two state constituencies.

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Professor Gabriel Yomere, disclosed this during a final meeting of stakeholders ahead of the by-election.
