The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has officially announced that Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, will serve as the host city for the much-anticipated 2026 NWFL Premiership Super Six Finals.
This season-ending showpiece is set to unfold from Friday, 5 June, to Sunday, 14 June, 2026, bringing the country’s top-flight women’s football season to a thrilling climax.
Six elite teams have secured their places in the championship round, where they will compete in a round-robin format to determine the ultimate champions of the 2026 NWFL season.
The tournament promises high-stakes action, as every match carries the weight of history, pride, and continental ambition.
The qualified sides include a blend of seasoned powerhouses and a historic debutant: Bayelsa Queens (the defending champions), Edo Queens, Rivers Angels (who enjoy home advantage), Robo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, and Abia Angels — the latter making their first-ever appearance in the NWFL Super Six.
Bayelsa Queens enter the competition as the most decorated club in the tournament’s recent history, having lifted the trophy for the sixth time last season. Their pursuit of a seventh title will face stiff challenges, particularly from Edo Queens and a determined Rivers Angels squad eager to delight their home fans.
Beyond national bragging rights, the stakes are elevated by a crucial continental slot: the winner of the Super Six will earn Nigeria’s sole ticket to the WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualifiers, where they will battle regional rivals for a place in the CAF Women’s Champions League.
With Port Harcourt’s passionate football community expected to turn out in force, the 2026 NWFL Super Six is poised to be a memorable celebration of Nigerian women’s.
