The Presidential Committee on Flood Relief and Rehabilitation has handed over the newly completed Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) facility at Mgbarakuma Ubakala to the Abịa State government.

At the event, a representative of the committee, Onimode Haruna, urged users of the facility to take ownership of it by securing, maintaining and protecting it from vandalism.

Haruna, who expressed satisfaction with the quality and completion of the project, commended the state government for partnering with the committee in realising the project.

After taking over the facility, the executive secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency, Sunny Jackson, lauded the federal government for initiating and completing the project.

He assured that the facility would be put to proper use and lauded the governor, Alex Otti, for providing the necessary support and enabling environment for the execution of the project.

In their remarks, a consultant for the project, Basil Okoli and the resident supervisor, Donatus Kamalu, underscored the need for the immediate commencement of the use of the facility, noting that occupying the facility would go a long way to protect it from trespass and vandalism.
