Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has faulted a statement credited to former state governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, that the presidency has been putting pressure on the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, to defect to the APC.
It would be recalled that Prince Oyinlola had during an interview on Arise News Channel’s Prime Time Show on Sunday evening stated that Governor Adeleke once disclosed to him that he was facing pressure from the presidency to the extent that, at a time, he had to break down in tears.
However, Osun APC, in a statement by its director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, said the position of Governor Adeleke as relayed by Prince Oyinlola was at variance with the development witnessed in the party whereby all the entreaties of Adeleke to defect to the party met a brick wall.
According to him, the statement credited to Adeleke as espoused by the former governor was indicative of the fact that Adeleke was brazenly telling packaged lies to the former governor in order to curry unmerited sympathy from him.
“It was in the public domain how Adeleke was moving from pillar to post in order to join our party without an iota of luck.
“The excuse that some people have been putting pressure on the governors to defect to the APC is a mere fabrication as there has not been any report of the coercion of any governor to defect to the APC from any quarters,” he said.
He contended that Governor Adeleke’s allegation as told by Oyinlola defied logic as it only exposed Governor Adeleke of being economical with the truth as he urged the members of the public to ignore it as it lacked merit, unfounded and spurious.
