Pro-Makinde Group Tackles Fayose Over 2027 Claims

The Progressive Youth’s For Makinde’s Presidency 2027, has described as childish the comments of former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, about Governor Seyi Makinde prospect as a 2027 presidential candidate.
The group was reacting to Fayose’s statement in a recent interview on Channels Television thus: “When I saw a flyer on social media about Seyi Makinde for president, I forwarded to him. He calls me that he is not running, that it’s the handiwork of some overzealous boys. He said he won’t be used to run against a fellow Yoruba man. That’s the truth.”

The national convener of the group, Prince Christopher Odianarewo, said while Fayose is entitled to his own opinion, the call for Makinde to contest the presidential election in 2027 was to replicate his bold and intelligent approach to problem-solving which he has displayed in Oyo.
He said they are deeply concerned by the worsening state of affairs in Nigeria under the APC-led federal government.

Underscoring the plummeting value of the Naira, escalating insecurity in the North, exploding housing costs, and collapsing educational system since 2015, Odianarewo said the moral compass is skewed with youths chasing after political positions rather than academics.

“Our beloved country is decaying. Therefore, we have taken the initiative to identify individuals we believe can lead Nigeria out of this crisis. Our thorough research has led us to H.E. Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, and we are convinced he is the leader we need.

“Governor Makinde’s transformative leadership in Oyo State, demonstrated through his achievements in healthcare, education, security, housing, roads, agriculture, food security, human capacity building, leadership mentorship, economic stability, and fostering religious, ethnic, and political harmony, has earned him our trust and the trust of many Nigerians.

“We believe these accomplishments should be replicated at the national level. His bold and intelligent approach to problem-solving makes him uniquely qualified to understand and address Nigeria’s challenges.

“Therefore, we urge Nigerians to disregard former Ekiti governor H.E Ayo Fayose’s assertion on Makinde’s Presidency as childish talk. We decry Nigerians’ worsen woes on President Tinubu’s incapacity to lead Nigeria.”

The group said the call for Governor Makinde to contest the 2027 presidential election is not mere political posturing but a clarion call to service, transcending party lines, ethnicity, and religion.

“It is a call to save our nation from total collapse and to save Nigeria,” he said.
