Founder of the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has donated an official Toyota Hilux vehicle to Northwest University, Kano (NWU), reaffirming his commitment to supporting higher education and strengthening collaboration among academic institutions.

The vehicle was presented to the Vice Chancellor of Northwest University, Prof. Amina Salihi Bayero, by a delegation from MAAUN during a ceremony at the university in Kano.

The delegation was led by MAAUN President, Prof. Mohammad Israr, and comprised the Vice President (Administration), Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar; Senate Member, Dr. Nura Yaro; and Hayatuddeen M. Abdallah of the university’s Corporate Communications Unit.

The donation fulfilled a pledge made by Prof. Gwarzo during a recent courtesy visit by the Northwest University management to him in Abuja, where he promised to provide an official vehicle for the Vice Chancellor’s office.

Presenting the vehicle on behalf of the founder, Prof. Israr said the gesture underscored Prof. Gwarzo’s commitment to advancing higher education through strategic partnerships and institutional support.

He added that the donation was also aimed at strengthening the existing relationship between MAAUN and Northwest University while enhancing the administrative efficiency of the Vice Chancellor’s office.

Receiving the vehicle, Prof. Bayero expressed appreciation to Prof. Gwarzo for fulfilling his promise, describing the donation as another testament to his generosity and passion for educational development.

She recalled that the MAAUN founder had previously donated a luxury bus to the university and provided other forms of support to enhance its academic and administrative activities.

The Vice Chancellor further revealed that Prof. Gwarzo had pledged to assist the university in accessing international grants and other opportunities to strengthen research, teaching and institutional development.

Also speaking, the Registrar of Northwest University said the visit had opened fresh opportunities for collaboration between the two institutions, including the possible establishment of a joint academic and research centre.

He prayed for Allah’s continued blessings upon Prof. Gwarzo and the entire MAAUN community for their sustained support for education.

The university’s Bursar described the vehicle as a valuable contribution that would improve the efficiency of the Vice Chancellor’s office and support the institution’s day-to-day operations.

The donation is the latest in a series of interventions by Prof. Gwarzo aimed at promoting quality education, institutional partnerships and capacity development within Nigeria’s higher education sector.
