A senior lecturer in the Department of History at Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University m, Makurdi (MOAUM) formerly Benue State University (BSU), Prof. Gabriel Nyityo, was shot dead by unknown gunmen.
According to security sources, Nyityo, was murdered in his residence at Adaka after Makurdi Industrial layout in the early hours of Wednesday.
Confirming the incident, MOAUM lecturer who pleaded anonymity expressed shock over the gruesome killing of his colleague, “We heard about the news today. It is sad and unfortunate. Prof. Nyityo is a peace loving person. I heard that the incident occurred around 3.am on Wednesday at his residence at Adaka. May his soul rest in peace. Amen”
Sympathisers have gathered in large numbers at the slain Professor’s residence to mourn his passing.
Our correspondent gathered that his remains was deposited in the mortuary.
Meanwhile, Benue State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, did not answer or respond to call put through her phone over the incident.
