Nigeria’s facility management sector is experiencing rapid growth, expanding at a rate of over 15 percent annually. This surge is driven by accelerating urbanisation, rising demand for energy-efficient solutions, and the increasing formalisation of building services across residential, commercial, and industrial spaces.

Hence, there is an urgent need for Nigeria to invest in training individuals responsible for facility maintenance across various sectors. This will enable more people to take advantage of the growing opportunities within the industry, fostering wealth creation and job generation.

Chief executive officer of Max-Migold and head of Faculty for the Facility Management Mastercraft Diploma, Paul Erubami, has highlighted the significant skills gap in Nigeria’s facility management sector. According to him, fewer than 35 percent of facility professionals in the country have received structured training.

In response to this gap, Erubami noted that Max-Migold Limited has launched Batch 25 of its Facility Management Mastercraft Programme (FMMC) —, a nationally recognised training initiative aimed at producing technically proficient and leadership-ready facility managers.

Paul Erubami stated, “The Facility Management Mastercraft is more than just a training programme.  It’s a transformative career pathway. Our goal is to produce facility managers who are not only technically competent but also strategic leaders, ready to manage complex assets across Nigeria and Africa.”

He reaffirmed the importance of the course, adding that its significance cannot be overemphasised. With the next cohort set to begin on August 11th, and a 10 per cent discount available for early bird registrations, the programme comes at a critical time. According to Erubami, it is designed to equip professionals to take ownership of high-value infrastructure and drive operational excellence across both public and private sectors.

Now in its 25th cycle, the FMMC programme has trained over 700 professionals drawn from sectors such as construction, oil and gas, finance, healthcare, and education. Among its alumni are staff from respected organisations including Julius Berger Facilities Management, CBRE Excellerate, FrieslandCampina WAMCO, and Promasidor.

Participants will be exposed to both theoretical and hands-on learning, covering strategic planning, health and safety compliance, sustainability practices, smart building technologies, and effective oversight of projects and vendors , all tailored to ensure they can manage the entire lifecycle of critical assets with confidence and expertise.

Meanwhile, graduates will receive an ISO-aligned certificate from the firm, accredited by the  Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN), giving them a competitive edge locally and internationally..
