The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) Northwest Stakeholders Forum has threatened legal action against former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, over the alleged purchase of nomination forms for 69 elective positions under the party’s platform.

The forum alleged that the nomination forms were obtained by an individual who is not a member of the PRP, describing the development as a threat to internal democracy.

The Chairman of the PRP Northwest Stakeholders Forum, Abdulkadir Musa, made the allegation during a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) secretariat in Kano on Sunday.

Musa alleged that the action was linked to Kwankwaso, saying it amounted to an attempt to hijack the party’s structure and deny genuine members the opportunity to contest.

He said, “It has been confirmed that nomination forms for all the 69 elective positions under the platform of the PRP have been purchased by one individual who is not even a member of our party.”

He described the alleged move as political robbery capable of causing confusion and disputes in the electoral process.

According to him, the affected positions include governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly seats.

The PRP chieftain said the party had credible members interested in contesting under its platform who were elected based on consensus, adding that their rights must be protected.

“We appeal to Senator Kwankwaso to allow political parties to operate independently and democratically. The PRP should be spared from what we consider a deliberate attempt to interfere with its internal affairs,” he said.

Musa warned that the party would not hesitate to seek legal redress if the alleged interference continued.

“Should this continue, legal action will be our only option in defending the integrity and independence of our party,” he added.

The chairman further claimed that similar developments had occurred in other political parties, warning that such actions could undermine the democratic process.

He said the party would provide more details and supporting documents on the matter at a later date.
