Managing director Africa, PZ Cussons, Oghale Elueni, said, “For over 120 years, PZ has existed in Nigeria, and we stand for the social, economic, and human elements of the environment. We conduct our business sustainably to meet the needs of the current generation, while ensuring that we’re leaving a better planet and society for those who are to come.”

In a statement by the company, the initiative, powered by PZ Cussons’ flagship brand, Morning Fresh, Nigeria’s No. 1 bestselling dishwashing liquid, saw a collaborative effort to enhance the local environment by reducing plastic pollution and fostering recycling practices across Africa.

The cleanup exercise brought together a diverse group of participants, including the PZ leadership team, the charismatic influencer Oluwabukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, popularly known as Kiekie, and other dedicated staff members, as well as local residents of the Ilupeju community. Together, they embarked on the mission to rid the area of non-biodegradable waste, notably plastic bags, bottles, and tetra packs.

Category Head, Homecare, PZ Cussons, Abimbola Odimayo-Olabode highlighted the brand’s longstanding commitment to care, saying, “Morning Fresh has been in Nigeria for over 30 years and is committed to caring for those who care. As such, we have extended this narrative to the environment. We get so much from nature so we need to take care of the environment as well.”
