The authorities in Doha, Qatar have reportedly issued threats of retaliation against Iran following incessant drone attacks on its territory by Iranian forces amid the ongoing war between the US-Israel and Iran.

Hind Bint Abdul Rahman Al Muftah, the Qatari representative to the UN in Geneva, stated that the Iranian attacks have undermined Qatar’s “territorial integrity” and violated the UN charter.

“These attacks amount to a great source of concern for us, and we can no longer remain silent.

“Attacks launched by Iran with grave repercussions are not only affecting peace and security in the world, but also human rights,” she said, condemning the drone and missile attacks.

“To attack the electricity and desalination plants also involves serious environmental consequences and undermines rights that should be guaranteed by human rights provisions,” she added.

The Qatari representative also noted that the de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz is “a source of great concern, given the dire consequences it can have on the economy and supply routes”.
