Member representing Bade/Jakusko federal constituency in the National Assembly, Hon Hassan Kaikaku Jakduwa (Ibn Jaks), has distributed Ramadan palliatives to thousands of people in his constituency as part of efforts to cushion their hardships during the month of Ramadan.
Briefing journalists on the exercise yesterday, he said the gesture was aimed at cushioning the hardships being experienced by his people, especially during this holy month of Ramadan.
According to him, despite the scarce resources, he would ensure that his constituents tested transparent and balanced representation.
He said that the items were distributed to individuals, groups and associations scattered around the 20 wards of his constituency as part of the Ramadan relief package.
The items included 900 bags of rice, 100 bags of sugar, 500 cartons of Spaghetti/Macaroni, 250 gallons of palm oil, 250 pieces of blankets.
Others are 250 pieces of mats, 250 pieces of wrappers (Shadda), 250 Pieces of wrappers (Attampa) and 250 children’s wear.
He said the distribution will be monitored by party leaders in each ward of his constituency.
Jakduwa said, “I want people to know that we cannot feed everyone, looking at the economic situation of the country, but we will do our own to reduce the poverty among our people.”
He urged the beneficiaries to judiciously utilise the items to reduce hardships among the people as well as appealed to everyone to contribute his or her quota to helping the less privileged.
Some of the beneficiaries applauded the lawmaker for reaching out to the households at this time.
