The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has called on Nigerian students to channel their creativity and talents with discipline, focus, and integrity, warning against the temptation of shortcuts in their pursuit of success.

Oloyede stated this while delivering the keynote address at the 2025 International Students’ Day, organised by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

He said, “The creativity and potential of Nigerian students, while urging them to remain focused, disciplined, and avoid shortcuts in their pursuit of success.”

This year’s global theme, “Empowering Students to be Agents of Change,” was complemented by Nigeria’s national theme, “Reigniting Patriotism and Productivity Among Nigerian Youths/Students.”

In his opening remarks, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Mukhtar Betara, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on the Federal Capital Territory, who chaired the event, appreciated NANS for the opportunity and “reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening ties with the student community, describing them as the nation’s hope as well as its thinkers, innovators, and future leaders.”

On his part, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students Engagement, Comrade Sunday Dayo Asefon, praised the NANS leadership and assured them of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “continued commitment to students’ welfare, noting the administration’s ongoing and planned interventions in the education sector.”
