Usman Abd’Allah, the technical adviser of Remo Stars, has declared that his team will retain their place in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) this season.
The Sky Blue Stars revived their survival chances with a gritty 2-1 comeback victory over Bayelsa United in Ikenne last weekend.
Although Ofem Nneoyi put the visitors ahead inside five minutes, Remo Stars fought back through goals from Alex Oyowah and Victor Mbaoma to claim all three points.
The win lifted the defending champions out of the relegation zone, but their fate will be sealed only if they defeat Bendel Insurance in their final match of the campaign.
“We’ve been impressive on the road. In the 11 matches since I took over, we’ve scored in every single one,” Abd’Allah told the club’s media.
“Even in the games we lost, we found the net. This team can score anywhere, against anyone.
“We must work extremely hard because nothing less than a win will do. Don’t write us off. With God’s help, we’ll go there, take three points, and escape relegation.”
Reflecting on the win over Bayelsa United, the former Super Eagles assistant coach added: “It was exactly the tough battle we expected – two relegation-threatened sides going head-to-head. They had 40 points before kickoff; a win would have taken them to 43, matching us.
“They scored first, but we equalized. Thankfully, we got the winner and secured the victory.”
