The member representing Bogoro, Dass, Tafawa Balewa federal constituency in the House of Representatives from Bauchi State, Hon. Jafaru Gambo Leko, has empowered 325 farmers with inputs in his constituency.

The items distributed include 100 water pumps, 100 farm sprayers, 100 organic liquid fertilizer, and 25 grinding machines.

While distributing the inputs in Bogoro at the weekend, Leko said the empowerment is part of fulfilling his campaign promises.

He said the initiative aims to support local farmers by providing essential resources for agricultural activities, potentially enhancing local farm productivity and livelihoods in the constituency.

Represented by Hon. Abdulrashheed Ahmed Muazu, a member representing the Tafawa Balewa constituency in the state Assembly, he said the effort would directly impact the agricultural sector within his constituency, emphasizing his commitment to supporting rural development through practical initiatives.

“Farm inputs play a crucial role in enhancing food security by improving agricultural productivity and sustainability in several ways,” Leko said.

He pledged to continue the empowerment initiative for the people of the constituency to improve their livelihood.

He, however, cautioned against selling the farm inputs and also encouraged people to engage in farming to improve food production.

The chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Alhassan Sadiq, urged those who have not benefitted to be patient and wait for their time, saying that more empowerment programmes are on the way.

Also, Mr Rabiu Garba, an APC legal officer and stakeholder in the constituency, commended the legislator’s empowerment initiative.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, Miss Rejoice Gideon expressed her appreciation to Leko for the gesture, saying, “The water pump machine would enhance irrigation systems and drought-resistant crop varieties.”
