Chairman of Emohua local government area of Rivers State, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, has applauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the ongoing peaceful of the ongoing Gubernatorial and House of Assembly election in the state.
Lloyd gave the commendation while speaking with newsmen shortly after casting his vote at Unit 009, Ward 10, Umuapu-Akpabu in Emohua local government area of the state.
He specifically lauded the functionality of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) during the exercise in the local government area, describing it as a wonderful innovation.
The local council said: “Everything is moving on successfully. Materials arrived quite on time from the Registration Area Centre (RAC) and accreditation and voting started simultaneously because INEC officials said they wanted to finish on time.
“The unit is densely populated and we pray and hope that it will continue like this till the end of the exercise.
“The BVAS is a wonderful innovation and it worked perfectly when I got accredited and voted. I urge voters to be of good conduct. At the end of the day, it is an exercise. The day will come and go and we will still remain brothers, sisters and friends.
“Only one governor will emerge at the end of this exercise. Only one House of Assembly member from each Constituency. It is not a do or die affair and that is the new spirit in Emohua local government area.”
