Rotary Club Holds Health Outreach For Abuja Residents

The Rotary Club of Abuja,Gudu has organised an health outreach for the residents at Kuje General Hospital to improve health care and support the local community.

Members of the Rotary Club of Abuja, Gudu, gathered at Kuje General Hospital with an array of medical supplies, and relief materials.The event, a testament to Rotary’s core value of ‘Service Above Self,’ drew attention from the local community and hospital staff.

Speaking with LEADERSHIP, President Rotary Club of Abuja, Gudu, Rita Sule Nentawe said, “We are here to commemorate World Polio Day,and decided to do an outreach in Kuje, because we felt the hospitals in the Area Council will need help, especially because of their proximity to rural areas.

“So we decided to look for indigent patients,and offset their bills,assist the hospital with medical supplies for the pharmacy and donate other essential items that the hospital will generally need.”

She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to give back to the community, and stressed the importance of supporting healthcare institutions, especially in rural areas.

Rotary Club distributed essential items, including various medicines for the pharmacy,hygiene kits,cash and clothing items to patients ensuring that their immediate needs were met.

Also speaking during the outreach,Dr. Bernadine Odukuye ,head of clinicals,Kuje General hospital,who represented the Medical Director, Dr Mariam Shuaibu expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Rotary Club for their support, emphasizing that the medical supplies would significantly benefit the hospital and its patients.

She said, “This is the first time Rotary Club are coming to Kuje General Hospital,to provide financial and medical supplies for indigent patients,it’s really a good gesture and we are happy.

Meanwhile the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), had endorsed Rotary Club of Abuja Gudu,s medical outreach programme at Kuje General Hospital.

A statement made available to LEADERSHIP read, “We firmly believe that quality health care is a fundamental human right that should be accessible to all,regardless of their socioeconomic status.

“Regrettably,many individuals lack access to essential health care services due to factors like poverty,lack of insurance,and transportation challenges.

“The Rotary Club of Abuja Gudu,in its mission to serve the community,has planned a comprehensive programme for this medical outreach.This initiative will encompass the provision of relief materials and medications to the hospital,immunization for children,and cash assistance to patients unable to cover their medical bills.Additionally,the programme will offer valuable educational resources on topics such as Polio prevention,nutrition,and disease prevention.

“The medical outreach programme is expected to make a significant impact on the lives of the people in Kuje, contributing to NIPR’s reputation,visibility,and commitment to community service.By supporting this initiative, NIPR demonstrates its dedication to improving the well-being of the community it serves.”

The Rotary Club of Abuja Gudu’s outreach program for Kuje General Hospital exemplified the organization’s dedication to community service and humanitarian efforts. Their contributions are set to leave a lasting impact on the healthcare infrastructure of the hospital and the well-being of the local residents.
