Beneficiaries of the Seyi Akinwunmi Charity Foundation (SACF) have shared their progress after being identified by the project’s organisers.
Two beneficiaries from the 2024 intake attended the 11th annual event at Igbobi College, Yaba, on Saturday, 2025. They spoke about the foundation’s significant impact on their development.
Sodiat Yusuf and Kemi Adegbuyi, both from Robo Queens, were awarded scholarships by the SACF in 2024. Both made a substantial contribution to the Lagos State Team at the 2025 Youth Games in Asaba.
Yusuf captained Team Lagos to victory in the national competition, while Adegbuyi was the highest scorer.
“We are incredibly happy to be beneficiaries of the Barrister Akinwunmi foundation, and we want to thank the organisers and urge them to do more, especially for the girl child,” Yusuf stated.
Dotun Coker, Technical Head of the organising team, remarked that the success of the two young women was precisely the kind of news that delighted the founder, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi.
“We enjoy hearing about their success stories after coming through us, but let me emphasise that we always follow up with our beneficiaries,” he said.
On Saturday, the Golden Eko Ballers women’s team and the Asisat Oshoala Academy played out a goalless draw. The Golden Eko Ballers U-14 team convincingly defeated Dosu Academy 3-0, while a novelty match between the ICOBA 2000 and ICOBA 2001 sets ended in a 1-1 draw.
A significant highlight saw the President of ICOBA International, Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, cut a ceremonial cake, much to the delight of the many old students in attendance.
Barrister Akinwunmi, founder of SACF, thanked all participants and assured them that the organisation would continue to work hard to mentor and support young people in their educational and sporting endeavours.
“I thank all our partners and many others supporting our cause. We are going to continue to make an impact on our potential leaders of tomorrow. We are passionate about this, which is why this event is getting bigger every year,” Akinwunmi concluded.
