Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and former Supreme Court Justice, George Adesola Oguntade, have felicitated with elder statesman and political icon, Otunba Busura Adedeji Alebiosu, as he marks his 90th birthday.

Governor Sanwo-Olu described Alebiosu, a member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) and chairman of the council of Otunbas of Ijebuland, as a “stabiliser” and “leader of leaders” whose influence has remained pivotal to the political evolution of Lagos State.

The governor, in a statement issued by his special adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, said the nonagenarian, fondly known as the “Bush of Africa”, has played a defining role in shaping Lagos politics, particularly during the Fourth Republic

“On behalf of my wife, Ibijoke, family, the government and the people of Lagos State, as well as leaders and members of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), I celebrate our elder statesman, Otunba Busura Alebiosu, on his 90th birthday,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He noted that Alebiosu has remained steadfast in the political process since his election into the Lagos State House of Assembly, where he represented Somolu/Kosofe Constituency, adding that his contributions span several political eras, from the administration of Sir Michael Otedola through the aborted Third Republic to the current democratic dispensation.

Describing him as one of the “leading lights” of Lagos politics, the Governor praised Alebiosu’s calm disposition, humility, and depth of experience, noting that his leadership qualities remain rare.

“I genuinely and wholeheartedly wish our leader a wonderful 90th birthday. I pray for good health in the years ahead, in a sound mind and clarity of thought, with the ability to continue to lead us well,” he added.

Also paying tribute, former Supreme Court Justice George Oguntade hailed Alebiosu as a man of exceptional character, integrity, and enduring influence, whose contributions to grassroots politics and governance have left a lasting impact.

Oguntade described the celebrant as a trusted ally and long-standing friend, noting that his political journey reflects resilience, wisdom, and a strong commitment to the collective good.

“Otunba Alebiosu is a man whose life embodies discipline, loyalty, and an unwavering belief in service,” he said, adding that his ability to build relationships and foster unity has been central to his legacy.

The retired jurist further commended Alebiosu’s role in mentoring younger leaders and promoting political stability in Lagos State, describing his influence as extending far beyond public office.

As he clocks 90, Alebiosu continues to be widely regarded as a grassroots mobiliser, strategist, and a stabilising force in Lagos politics, with tributes from leaders and associates underscoring a lifetime of service, impact, and enduring legacy.
