The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has reiterated its steadfast commitment to the establishment of an independent Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, emphasised the position taken during the opening of the first session of the ninth term of the Shura Council on September 18, 2024.

During his address, Prince Mohammed bin Salman firmly stated that Saudi Arabia would not establish diplomatic relations with Israel without the realisation of a sovereign Palestinian State.

He affirmed the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to achieve a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue.

Recall that the Crown Prince reiterated this position at the extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit held in Riyadh on November 11, 2024.

He stressed the need for a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital.

He also called for an end to the Israeli occupation and urged peace-loving nations to recognise the State of Palestine.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement issued on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, underscored the Kingdom’s firm rejection of Israeli settlement policies, land annexation, and any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land.

The Ministry emphasised the international community’s responsibility to alleviate the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine and to uphold the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

“The Kingdom’s position on Palestinian statehood is non-negotiable and uncompromising,” the statement read. “Achieving a lasting and just peace is impossible without the Palestinian people obtaining their legitimate rights in accordance with international resolutions.”

Saudi Arabia has consistently conveyed its position to both past and current United States administrations and remained committed to mobilising the global community in support of the Palestinian cause.
