Scottie Scheffler, who has claimed two majors among six titles in 2025, and Rory McIlroy, who achieved a career Grand Slam by winning the Masters, have been nominated for the Jack Nicklaus Award, which honours the PGA Tour Player of the Year, the US-based circuit announced.
Englishman Tommy Fleetwood, who won the Tour Championship in August to secure the FedExCup and its $10 million prize, along with Ben Griffin, a three-time winner in 2025, are also nominated for the Player of the Year award, according to the PGA Tour on Wednesday.
World No 1 Scheffler recorded a PGA Tour-best 17 top-10 finishes in 2025 and did not miss a cut, bringing his career major total to four with titles in both the PGA Championship and the British Open, leaving him one major victory shy of becoming only the seventh golfer to complete the career Grand Slam.
Northern Ireland’s McIlroy secured three titles in 2025, highlighted by his victory at Augusta National Golf Club in April, where he triumphed in a two-man sudden-death playoff, ending an 11-year major drought on a course that had previously brought him much disappointment.
South African Aldrich Potgieter and Australian Karl Vilips have been nominated for the Arnold Palmer Award, given to the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, alongside Americans Michael Brennan, Steven Fisk, and William Mouw.
Both awards are determined by a vote of PGA Tour members, with those who have played at least 15 official FedExCup events during the 2025 season eligible to vote. The ballot will close on 12 December, and winners will be announced at a later date.
