The abduction took place on September 26, 2024, near Gurbi Magariya village. The  intervention involved vigilante groups working alongside the Community Watch Corps, the military, police, NSCDC and DSS forces who pursued the kidnappers, leading to the safe release of the hostages.

Katsina State commissioner for internal security and home affairs, Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, praised the concerted efforts of the security agencies and  vigilantes.

In a statement, he commended their determination and swift action which ensured the farmers were reunited with their families.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to ensure safety of citizens, especially in rural communities vulnerable to bandit attacks.
