The senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, plans to provide free Wi-Fi access at strategic locations in the district to empower youths, boost digital participation and support content creators.
She disclosed this during her recent visit to Idah Local Government Area in Kogi East, where she joined leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to welcome new members into the party.
The lawmaker expressed enthusiasm at a similar initiative proposed in Kogi East, noting that such digital infrastructure was essential for job creation and youth engagement in today’s economy.
“Free Wi-Fi for Kogi Central too,” she declared. “Yesterday, the PDP leadership and I were in the historic Idah local government area of Kogi’s Eastern District to welcome a number of decampees. Notably, one of them was a gentleman named Idris HK.
“While speaking, he mentioned installing free Wi-Fi in strategic locations across the Eastern District to support content creators with access to the internet.”
“I stood there, loving the idea as a necessity for facilitating job creation for our youths. So, in the spirit of collaboration—and Kogi Central no dey take last—here’s me pledging to do the same for our beloved Kogi Central.”
According to the senator, discussions with internet service providers will commence promptly, alongside plans to identify suitable locations for installation and rollout in the near future.
“Internet providers shall be contacted, proper locations identified and installations carried out soon,” she said.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasised the importance of unity and constructive collaboration among the state’s three senatorial districts—Central, East, and West—over rivalry.
“Here’s to forward-thinking leadership. Cheers to smart collaboration, not unhealthy competition among the Central, Eastern, and Western districts of Kogi State. Cheers to our great party, the PDP,” she said.
