As part of efforts to end violence against women, the Association of Women Professional Network (AWPN) has completed plans to establish a community radio station across the state to fight all forms of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).
The president of the Association, Hajiya Hadiza Ahmad Maikudi disclosed this during the inauguration of the association‘s state executives in Bauchi.
She said the move was part of the planned crusade against all forms of Gender-based violence and to empower women in both economic and political prescription.
The president said the effort has already been given nod by the director general, National Broadcasting Commission Malam Balarabe Ilelah who promised to pilot the women professionals.
Maikudi explained that the Association was established a year ago with a core mandate of exploring ways to tackle all challenges bothering women in Bauchi state.
She added that all women professionals of Bauchi indigene are qualified to join the training.
Maikudi called on traditional and religious leaders to champion to fight against GBV in the state and support women‘s inclusiveness programmes.
