Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has been honoured with the 2025 Governor of the Year Award by the Silverbird Group.
The award was presented on Sunday at Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, during a ceremony attended by prominent Nigerians from different sectors.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mustapha Muhammad, the award was in recognition of Yusuf’s commitment to good governance and his administration’s developmental strides across key sectors of the state’s economy.
The statement noted that since assuming office, the governor has implemented policies and projects aimed at improving education, healthcare delivery, infrastructure and agriculture. It added that the administration’s development blueprint, tagged the Kano First Agenda, has continued to attract commendations within and outside the country.
At the event, speakers reportedly described the governor as a transformational leader whose policies have repositioned Kano State for growth and sustainable development.
Governor Yusuf, who was unavoidably absent at the ceremony, was represented by his Special Adviser on State Matters, Alhaji Bala Usman, who received the award on his behalf.
In his remarks, Usman expressed appreciation to the Silverbird Group for the honour and congratulated other recipients. He said the recognition would serve as motivation for the Kano State government to intensify efforts toward delivering more dividends of democracy to the people.
The award adds to a growing list of recognitions received by the governor since the inception of his administration, the statement added.
