Six Communities In Ondo South Set For Football Tourney

As part of his Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and a way to give back to the society, entrepreneur and philanthropist, Hon. Bidemi Joshua Obayangban known as O.C General has unveiled another edition of his football competition titled ‘O.C General Cup’.

The football contest will feature all football clubs and teams across the six local government areas in Ondo South Senatorial District.

In a statement released by the General Coordinator of O.C General Foundation, Hon. Oluwasegun Akinsuroju, football teams from six communities and they include Okitipupa, Irele, Ese-Odo, Odigbo, Ilaje and Ileoluji Okeigbo are to take part in the tourney.

O C General Cup’ will be held the Government Stadium of Okitipupa and begins from November 15, 2023. The winner of the competition goes home with cash prizes and other materials. According to Iwakun, the most outstanding players will be selected and given other prizes.

“The O C General Cup conceptualized by  Hon Bidemi Obayangban and the opening ceremony will be attended by notable personalities, traditional rulers and lovers of sports including the Secretary to the Ondo State government, Barr. Oladunni Odu; Senator representing Ondo South in the National Assembly, Barr. Jimoh Ibrahim; Honourable member representing Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency at Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Jimi Odimayo; Chairman, Ondo state Football Association & Sports Council and our royal fathers,” says Akinsuroju.

Hon. Bidemi Joshua Obayangban is known for his various humanitarian interventions, philanthropic gestures and community projects ranging from empowerment programmes for the youth, vulnerable, orphans, women, men, widows & widowers and at least two notable indigenes of Aye, Adebusoye Murphy and Adefeyiju Garbon, via the tourney have played for international football clubs.

 

OC General programs are targeted at alleviating poverty, youths restivesness and to promote sports in Ondo state and Nigeria at large even as he assures that there are numerous plans in the pipeline for his people.
