Facebook has been buzzing with a new AI-powered trend, with users creating playful images of themselves as akara sellers following comments by Nigeria’s First Lady on embracing alternative means of livelihood.
The viral trend saw social media users jokingly embrace entrepreneurship, with many posting AI-generated photos of themselves frying akara, roasting corn and selling kuli-kuli.
Joining the trend were social media users Chinyere Christiana Muoghalu and Ije Oma A Nwachukwu, who shared photos of themselves dressed as roadside akara vendors, complete with frying pans and trays of bean cakes.

Accompanying her post, Muoghalu wrote: “I have joyfully taken the advice of our First Lady. Graduate don drop papers dey fry akara o. If e reach your turn no take seyiiii mother advice. There are many options to choose from.”

The humorous posts have since sparked mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians treating the trend as harmless satire, while others used it to reignite conversations about graduate unemployment and the country’s economic realities.
For now, though, Instagram seems united on one thing: everybody is apparently ready to fry akara.
