Solomon Buchi Criticises Yinka Alaseyori Over Remarks On Oyo Kidnapping Incident

Nigerian media personality Solomon Buchi has criticised gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori over her comments on the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.

Alaseyori had earlier defended the administration of Bola Tinubu, saying efforts were being made to secure the victims’ release. She also urged Nigerians to pray for their safe return.

Responding in a video shared on Instagram, Buchi accused the singer of being influenced by politics.

He argued that emotional background music does not strengthen a message. He also alleged that some pastors and gospel artistes have allowed political donations to influence their views.

He said:

“You see, just because you’ve added some mellow music in the background of what you’re saying does not mean that you’re making sense. It doesn’t mean that you know what you’re saying. Some of you gospel ministers and even pastors are sellouts. You’ve sold your conscience to politicians.”

Solomon Buchi also questioned Yinka Alaseyori’s praise for government efforts, noting that some children had remained missing for weeks.

He further argued that prayer alone cannot solve national problems. According to him, strong policies and decisive action are equally important.

He used China and Dubai as examples of places that achieved development through practical measures and long-term planning.

“They are working, and children have been kidnapped for the past 2 weeks. Do you understand that in some countries, a lost dog will be found within 24 hours, whereas children in Nigeria may go missing for years? I mean this very respectfully. I am a Christian, I believe in prayers, but you see, prayers will not do for us what God has given us the ability to do for ourselves,” Buchi added.

The media personality concluded by describing what he called a form of Christianity that focuses only on prayer while ignoring accountability.

He argued that Nigerians should also demand answers and action from their leaders, rather than relying solely on religious appeals.

“You guys need to stop this nonsense, psychopathic, psychotic version of Christianity that you are using to enslave people in Nigeria, because some of you are actually using it to enslave people.”
