Chukwuma Soludo has commissioned a 1.7-kilometre road project in Achalla community, located in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The road was fully funded and constructed by a prominent indigene of the community, Chief Emma Nwakamma, under the state’s Private-Public-Community Partnership model.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony on Wednesday, Soludo pledged to intervene in the lingering leadership crisis affecting the Achalla community, assuring residents that his administration would take the necessary steps to restore peace and unity in the ancient kingdom.

Addressing residents and stakeholders at the event, the governor stressed that sustainable development could only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace and cooperation among community members.

He said, “We will intervene in the leadership of Achalla to bring about lasting peace. Achalla, are you ready? Development can only thrive in an atmosphere of tranquillity, and our goal is to ensure that Achalla moves forward as one united family.”

Soludo described the newly- completed road as a clear example of the success of the state government’s Private-Public-Community Partnership initiative, noting that the government alone could not drive the level of development desired across the state.

“The new road is a ‘shining beacon’ of the state government’s Private-Public-Community Partnership model. This is a stark economic reality that the government only controls a fraction of the state’s potential.

“About 98 per cent of Anambra’s income and wealth is in private hands. The government’s budget is only a small percentage of what our people own.

“To transform Anambra into a liveable and prosperous homeland, we must harness this private wealth. We acknowledge and celebrate Chief Nwakamma today because he has shown us what is possible when private success meets public spirit,” he said.

The governor also encouraged residents of the state to embrace acts of community service, regardless of how small, rather than relying solely on government intervention.

“I celebrate Chief Emma Nwakamma for his heart for the people. But you don’t need to build a kilometre of road to make a difference. Buy a pencil for a child; do the little or much you can give. No one is too poor to give, and no act is too small. Do something for the greater good of the public,” he added.

Soludo further expressed appreciation to the people of Achalla for their political support during the election.

“I thank you for your election support. We scored 73 per cent of the total votes cast,” he said.

Earlier in his remarks, Chief Nwakamma explained that his decision to undertake the 1.7-kilometre road project was inspired by Governor Soludo’s PPCP development model.

According to him, the project is expected to improve transportation within the area, ease the movement of people and goods, and stimulate economic activities in the community.
