Sowore Condemns US Airstrikes In Nigeria, Warns Of Sovereignty Breach

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has condemned the United States’ airstrikes on Nigerian soil, describing the development as a grave violation of the country’s sovereignty and a reflection of weak leadership.

Reacting via his X handle on Friday, Sowore faulted both the US and Nigerian governments over the Christmas Day strike on a village in Sokoto State, which was said to have targeted terrorist elements.

“I have read reports that the United States government launched attacks on Nigerian soil on Christmas Day, purportedly targeting terrorist groups within Nigeria.

“Although the Nigerian government now claims it was aware and describes the operation as a joint effort with vague ‘international partners,’ it is evident that the strikes were carried out without the genuine authority or informed consent of the weaklings masquerading as government under President Bola Tinubu,” Sowore wrote.

He further expressed concern over Nigeria’s capacity to defend its territorial integrity, warning that the country was being sidelined in critical security decisions affecting its citizens.

“It is deeply troubling that Nigeria lacks the capable and sovereign leadership required to protect its people and its territory. As a result, the country has been reduced to a bystander while its sovereignty is violated. Only true, tested, and informed leadership can protect Nigerians,” he added.
