The Management of Sportsville Communication has extended congratulations to Dr. Uyi Akpata on his re-election as President of the Nigerian Cricket Federation (NCF).

In a statement signed by its Chairman/CEO, Hon. Frank Ilaboya, Sportsville declared Akpata’s re-election as well-deserved and a significant victory for cricket in the country.

“The news of Dr. Akpata’s re-election as NCF President did not come as a surprise to us. Over the past four years, he has elevated the game of cricket to new heights through his foresight and innovative management strategies. Everything rises and falls on leadership, and Akpata has exemplified this since his initial election in 2021.

“Under his leadership, the country’s cricket has made remarkable strides, including substantial investments in infrastructure and the establishment of high-performance centres, national grassroots development programmes, and the introduction of professional contracts for Nigerian players,” Hon. Ilaboya added.

Dr. Akpata’s outstanding performance as the head of cricket was recognised when he received the Sportsville Sports Personality of the Year Award in April this year in Lagos—an accolade that was celebrated by many Nigerians as well-deserved.

It is no surprise that Dr. Akpata was returned unopposed during the Federation election held in Abuja on 20th September 2025. The election was determined by 37 delegates, with 12 additional board members elected to govern the sport for the next four years.
