Still On Auld Lang Syne

In those days of old, you could trust people even when you did not know them. Grandpa told us of how when he traveled with grandma, she would suggest they buy yams sold by the road side as they were a lot cheaper than those in the market.

Grandpa told us of how they would see the tuber of yams but not the sellers, who trusted people enough to pay for what they picked, as the prices were boldly stated there in their absence.

How grandma would select what she wanted placing the money underneath a stone where other buyers had done before her so it doesn’t get blown away by the wind. Such was life then.
