Youths of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State have called on Governor Siminalayi Fubara to desist from dragging the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, before President Bola Tinubu, following the political impasse in the state.
They applauded Tinubu for his numerous interventions in the face-off between Fubara and Wike, which began late 2023.
APC youth leader in the Rivers South-East senatorial district, Hon. Innocent Ajaelu, wondered why it is only political leaders from the state that are always taking their matters to the president for settlement.
“Let me use this medium to thank Mr President for the fatherly role he has been playing in Rivers State politics since three years now. It is only a father and a genuine father that wants peace and progress among his children that can do what he is doing. So, I thank him.
“On behalf of the youths of Rivers State, we say may God Almighty bless and bring peace to him.
“Let me say that it is not a good sign or good omen that at any point in time, a particular set of people will be running to Mr. President for settlement.
I don’t know that which is a problem that a father and a son cannot settle.
“A son that is always reporting his father to a higher authority does not show that he is a very responsible son. At all times, you should obey your father. In the field of politics, we all know that whichever way you want to turn it, there is no way you will remove godfather in it.
“If there are things your political godfather has done with you for you to succeed, for me, it should be kept sacrosanct.
“It shouldn’t be made for public consumption because there are things you must have agreed with your political godfather or he has seen in you and bestowed trust in you before he allow you. So, I don’t think it is a good omen.
“For me, I want to say that this should be the last time that Rivers politicians should go to disturb Mr. President. He has 36 states and I don’t think Rivers State should be the only one disturbing him.”
