Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has frowned upon the level of encroachment on State-owned landed property.
Speaking with journalists after assessing the ongoing reconstruction work at the commissioners’ quarters in Makurdi, Governor Alia said the government of Benue State, under his leadership, is poised to utilise all government-owned properties and will not tolerate any form of encroachment on them.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, in a statement, said Alia expressed total satisfaction with the level and quality of work done so far, and charged the contractor to speed up the work.
The governor reiterated his willingness to ensure quality and spacious accommodations for top government functionaries within the shortest possible time.
Governor Alia, who directed the Benue State Ministry of Works and Housing to ensure that all government properties are safeguarded, said his administration is strategising plans to enable civil servants to prepare well for their retirement while in office.
The governor hinted at plans to construct additional housing units within the quarters to accommodate more workers and cushion the state’s housing deficit.
