Notable traditional Nigeria traditional rulers yesterday graced the fifth anniversary celebration of the accession to the throne of the Emir of Lafia,  Justice Sidi Bage-Mohammed.

They include the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III; Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garba; Oni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja 11; Emir of Kano, Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero; Emir of Zauzau, Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli.

Others are the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar; Lamido of Adamawa, Lamido Muhammadu Barkindo; Emir of Biu, Mai Mustapha Umar; and the Aku Uka of Wukari, Manu Ishaku Ada Ali among others.

Justice Sidi Bage ascended the throne following the demise of the late emir, HRH Isa Mustapha Agwai I.

Speaking at the occasion, the sultan called on Nigerians to intensify prayers for the country’s leaders to enable them navigate  through the current socio-economic challenges.

He also tasked Nigerians to work for the unity, peace and development of the country.

The sultan urged the leaders to work towards addressing the challenges facing the country.

He said; “We know that our leaders are trying, but the people are in the hurry to see positive changes that will renew their hopes for a better life.

“We are showing the whole world that royal fathers in this country are united, just look at the list of traditional rulers from the six geo-political zones that honoured the occasion.”

The Shehu of Borno urged Nigerians to join hands with the leaders and security agencies in addressing the security challenges.

He said the citizens can assist by providing information on the activities of criminal elements in their areas, noting that security is everybody’s business.

Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule, thanked  the traditional rulers for identifying with the Emir of Lafia on the auspicious occasion.

He also thanked traditional rulers in the state for the support his administration has been enjoying since he assumed power in 2019. He promised to redouble his effort toward improving the infrastructure and welfare of the people of the state.
