The Super Eagles are currently holding a closed-door training session at the main bowl of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, as preparations intensify for Friday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar.
The session, which began on Wednesday, is taking place away from the media and public as head coach Éric Chelle fine-tunes his squad for the opening Group stage fixture.
The training provides the Super Eagles with an opportunity to work on their tactical approach and assess the players available for the crucial encounter.
Nigeria are expected to step up preparations over the next two days as they target a winning start to their AFCON qualifying campaign.
The three-time African champions will be without striker Victor Osimhen, who withdrew from the squad after failing to recover from a muscle injury.
Coventry City forward Taiwo Awoniyi was subsequently called up to strengthen the attack, while Tolu Arokodare, Akor Adams and Rafiu Durosinmi are also available to Chelle.
Madagascar will arrive in Uyo hoping to repeat their famous 2-0 victory over Nigeria at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.
However, the Super Eagles will be keen to avoid another setback and begin their qualification campaign on a strong note when both sides meet at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Friday.
