Suspected thugs beat and stripped naked the Chief Executive Officer of Hosamudia Farm, Dr Don Pedro Obaseki, in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

Obaseki was attacked at Uwa Primary School where he went to play football.

In a viral video seen by our correspondent, Pedro, a cousin to former Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, was seen kneeling at the gate to the Palace of Oba of Benin.

The suspected thugs told the palace guards that they brought in an ‘Oghion’ (enemy) of the Oba.

Pedro in the video was made to kneel down before a large crowd as they chanted “enemy of the Oba”.

Some palace chiefs who addressed the suspected thugs spoke in Bini language that the Oba was going to the Holy Arousa Church for thanksgiving service to mark end of the Igue festival.

According to him, “Today is Thanksgiving Day at the Holy Arousa. We don’t want any trouble. If there is anybody that counted himself as enemy of the Oba, allow him and see how he will end up.”

The chiefs later took Pedro Obaseki in despite the protest by the mob.
