The Nigerian youth movement, Tafiyar Matasa, has announced the launch of a nationwide online media protest in response to a recent statement by the President of the United States, which it described as an act of religious bigotry and disrespect toward Nigeria.

In a statement signed by its Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, Abdulrazaq Dahiru Kaita, the group said the protest aims to defend Nigeria’s image, unity, and religious harmony.

“With over two million active members across digital platforms, Tafiyar Matasa will mobilise a coordinated online campaign to collectively reject any statement that seeks to undermine our country or sow division among our people,” the statement said.

The group further called on “all patriotic Nigerians and responsible media organisations” to join in resisting any form of discrimination or insult against the nation’s identity and values.
