A political group under the aegis of Taraba North Progressive Forum has endorsed the Senator representing Taraba North in the National Assembly, Senator Shuaibu Isa Lau, for another term in office.
The group made the endorsement in a press briefing to reporters on Sunday in Jalingo, by its Chairman, Comrade Ibrahim Manga, during its stakeholders’ meeting attended by party faithful, community leaders and supporters drawn from across the district.
The Forum Chairman said the decision followed a critical assessment of the senator’s performance over the years, dismissing claims by the opposition elements that he had underperformed.
Comrade Manga cited “verifiable achievements” and impact across the senatorial district among women, youths and older people.
He maintained that Senator Lau, who went to the National Assembly in 2017, had demonstrated “commitment, resilience and focus” in delivering development projects and legislative representation to the people.
According to the Forum Chairman, the lawmaker recorded significant strides in rural electrification, including the installation of 500KVA transformers in several communities, such as Lamido Borno, Sunkani, Korkaye, Baba Ya’u and parts of Jalingo and Zing local government areas.
He added that electrification projects were also extended to underserved communities, while faulty infrastructure in areas such as Kona, Monkin, and Tashan Lau had been rehabilitated.
On renewable energy, Comrade Manga said that solar street lights had been installed in most of the district’s 61 wards to improve security and economic activity.
He further mentioned that Senator Lau has embarked on several intervention projects in the education sector, saying that classroom blocks had been constructed and upgraded in several communities across the six local government areas of the zone.
It also referenced the senator’s ongoing legislative efforts, including bills to establish a Federal College of Education in Karim Lamido and a Federal University of Science and Technology in Lau.
In the health sector, he said the senator facilitated the donation of an ambulance to Zing General Hospital, provision of medical equipment and support for the proposed National Orthopaedic Hospital in Jalingo, among other projects executed.
He added that, to address water challenges, the Senator had drilled boreholes and provided solar-powered water facilities in several communities in the district.
While urging constituents to support continuity, Comrade Manga argued that Senator Lau’s experience and ranking status in the National Assembly placed him in a better position to attract more development to the area.
“We have come to a clear and undeniable conclusion to endorse Senator Shuaibu Isa Lau for another term based on his track record and performance,” he stated.
He called on the electorate in Taraba North to remain united and to support “credible and result-oriented LEADERSHIP” ahead of the next political cycle.
