The Taraba State Commissioner of Police, CP Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, has warned those plotting to disrupt the November 8 local government election to steer clear, as the command will not condone any acts of lawlessness before during and after the polls.
In a press statement issued to newsmen in Jalingo and signed by the acting police public relations officer (PPRO) of the command, ASP Ishaku Victor Mshelizah, the command assured its readiness to safeguard the democratic process through its conduct.
The statement reads in part, “The Nigeria Police Force Taraba State Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP BETTY ENEKPEN ISOKPAN OTIMENYIN, PSC, MINPS, is fully committed to ensuring a peaceful, secure, and hitch-free Local Government Election scheduled for November 8th, 2025. The CP has directed all officers to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and vigilance to safeguard the democratic process.
“The public is assured of robust security measures across all polling units and communities. We urge citizens to exercise their civic rights without fear, knowing that the police are adequately prepared to prevent and respond to any security challenges. Your safety is our priority.
“To achieve this, the CP calls on all residents to remain law-abiding, cooperate with security personnel, and adhere to electoral guidelines. Remember: If you see something suspicious, say something—report to the nearest police station,” the statement read.
According to the statement the police will deploy intelligence-driven operations to identify and neutralise any threats, adding that perpetrators would face the full wrath of the law, with no room for compromise.
“Together, let us make this election a model of democracy and unity, the CP in the statement added.
