Over 1,000 widows in Taraba State have held a special prayer session for the re-election of Governor Agbu Kefas in 2027.

The widows, drawn from different parts of the state, gathered at the residence of the director-general of the Kefas Campaign Organisation, Hon. Danladi Baido Tijos, in Jalingo, where prayers were offered by Christian and Muslims for the governor’s victory in the forthcoming polls.

The prayer session also featured supplications for peace, unity and continued development in the state.

After the event, the chairperson of the Widows’ Association of Nigeria, Taraba State chapter, Mrs Veronica David, said the group visited the campaign organisation’s director-general to congratulate Governor Kefas over his victory at the recent APC governorship primary election in the state.

She explained how widows in the state had suffered neglect from politicians in the past, alleging that many only remembered them during election periods.

According to her, the administration of Governor Kefas had shown concern for the welfare of widows since assuming office in 2023.

“We are here to appreciate Governor Agbu Kefas for identifying with widows across the state. Unlike in the past, widows are now being recognised and supported,” she said.

Mrs David added that, the gathering was also aimed at praying for the success of the governor and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

In his remarks, Hon. Danladi Baido Tijos appreciated the widows for their show of solidarity and support for the governor and the ruling party in the state

He said the turnout and display of voters’ cards by members of the association indicated their readiness to participate actively in the 2027 elections.
